How to Move with Pets: A Stress-Free Guide

Moving day can be chaotic, and for pets, it can be downright terrifying. New smells, loud noises, and a changing environment can cause anxiety. Here’s how to make the move smoother for your four-legged family members.

1. Keep Their Routine

Try to maintain your pet's feeding and walking schedule as much as possible. Familiarity breeds comfort. If you usually walk them at 8 AM, stick to it.

2. Create a Safe Space

On moving day, designate a quiet room where your pet can stay with their bed, toys, and water. Keep the door closed to prevent them from bolting out while movers are coming and going.

3. Update Microchip Details

Before you move, ensure your pet's microchip information is updated with your new address. If they do get lost, this is their best ticket home.

4. Travel Safety

If you're driving to your new home, secure your pet in a carrier or with a seatbelt harness. Never let them roam free in the car. Make regular stops for water and bathroom breaks.

5. Settle In Slowly

Once at the new house, introduce your pet to one room at a time. Let them sniff and explore at their own pace. Set up their bed and toys immediately to give them a sense of belonging.
